10 Skin Care Tips for the Winter

Winter is here and so are the low temperatures! the cold air and the snow!! as the weather gets colder our skin needs some protection and special care to be healthy. Remember doesn't matter what´s your skin type, you always need to change your skincare routine according to the weather; today I'm sharing with you 10 winter beauty tips I do to keep my skin healthy and protected from this low temperatures.


1.- clean your face once a day: Due to the extreme temperatures, the skin gets dehydrated easily and faster, even if you have oily skin. Over washing your face will only cause to produce more oil or irritate the skin. I suggest doing it only once a day, preferably at night before going o bed and in the morning only clean your eyes to remove the crusting from them.

2.-Avoid hot showers: Its cold and all we want is to go home and take a long hot shower! doing this will only increase the dehydration of the skin and could cause the skin to cracked, its better if you take a short shower with warm water, no more than 5 minutes.

3.- Use a body/face oil: This one goes in hand with the previews point. hot water dehydrates the skin and can cause the skin to cracked or itchiness, to keep it hydrated and healthy use a body oil all over your body to get rid of any driedness. Don't forget your feet and hands!

4.- Moisturizer:  Don't forget the skin of your face needs some love too, dry, oily or combination skin, either one you have to use a moisturizer. If your skin is super dry you may want to change your normal moisturizer for a heavy one just to help your skin recover faster.

5.-Use socks or gloves: If you want to keep your feet and hands softer and moisture try using some sucks and gloves after you put on your body oil or moisturizer. I recommend using the socks to go to sleep, in the morning your feet will be softer and warmer.

6.- Exfoliation: Its always good to exfoliate the skin to remove the dead cells on top, during this winter time since the skin can be sensitive due to the extreme weather, yo to exfoliate as often as you usually do; once or twice a month will be good enough.

7.-Avoid alcohol products: We already know that using beauty products with alcohol in it is damaging to our skin.  But if you are an oily skin like me you know you can live without a toner to control the oil!. During winter is better if you don't use them at all just save t for the summer; if you still feel like you need a toner try making one with green tea.

8.- drink more water: Its cold outside and all we want it a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate. But is important to keep drinking enough water to keep your body hydrated. Remember that the skin needs water too. Don't lower the amount of water you drink during the winter even if you don't feel like drinking any.

9.- Don´t forget your lip balm: With the cold air is more likely to get chapped lips, apply a good lip balm several times a day ( 3 times minimum) and avoid bitten the skin on the surface of your lips otherwise they won't heal;You can make your own lip balm at home.

10.- SPF is for winter too: It's important to protect the skin from the sun with a good SPF t may seem like you don't need it, THE SUN IS OUT ALL YEAR LONG! Remember photodamage can cause premature wrinkles.
