Last week I posted about new makeup product I found that contain nopal extract in it. And some of you were wondering if it is safe to use, what is it and what are the benefits of using that particular plant in the skin. On today's post is going to try to answer all those questions.

The nopal is a plant very similar to a cactus usually grows in arid areas, but nowadays its really easy to find it anywhere at a local supermarket.

Here in Mexico, we eat that plant because is rich in fiber and amino acids, Its one of the most nutritive foods that we have, it's easy to cook or can be eaten raw in salads.

It has a sticky liquid in it just like the aloe vera plant, that liquid is the most important part of the plant as is the one that contains all the nutrients and is the one used for beauty purposes.

now that we are familiar with this plant lest talk about its benefits,  starting with the beauty ones after all this is a beauty blog right?

depending on what you are looking for you can be used on its own as a face or hair mask or can be combined with other products too like, aloe vera, rose water, honey, lemon etc.

The easiest way to use it is:

Grab a piece of nopal, cut it in half and with a spoon scrape the surface of it to remove the sticky substance that has in it and place it in a container, with your clean hands or a brush apply it on your face or hair, leave it for about 1 hour and rinse with water.

You can use it as many times a week as you need it, won't irritate your skin.
